Winter Blues Getting You Down? Are you getting tired of the constant overcast skies in the valley bottom? Are you missing that bright sunshine and pure white snow? Come to Kelowna Nordic to ski, snowshoe, relax in the cabins or just enjoy the beautiful winter outdoors.
Breaking News: January 7, 2025, we received a letter from the Community gaming Grants Branch of the BC government stating: “Unfortunately, your request for funding (for a groomer) was unsuccessful …”. The request was for $250,000. This is a huge setback for our club. Our current machines are well past their useful life and are constantly breaking down. Your Board will meet January 8 to consider our options.
Learning Fun: We had a tremendous turnout for ski lessons this past weekend. It is not too late to join in on these lessons. Just go to our website: https://www.kelownanordic.ca/skiinstruction
Disturbing Remarks: We were deeply saddened and embarrassed to learn that a KN skier made rude remarks to a group of skiers from another club who were enjoying our trails this past weekend. It is good manners, and only right, that we welcome other club members to our facilities. We are all part of the vibrant community of Okanagan Cross Country skiers enjoying the sport that we love. Finally, members of another club visiting our club helps us financially to cover our expenses and to keep our fees as low as possible.
Season’s Pass: Thinking that it is too late for a season’s pass? Think again. Conditions are just about perfect right now at Kelowna Nordic. Our season will last well into March, so there are many days of outdoor adventures ahead. Please consider buying a season’s pass. It is the most effective way to support your club. And your support is greatly appreciated, as we truly need the money to keep Kelowna Nordic viable. Membership gets you insurance, events, group skis & carpooling and many discounts in our community. We need your support more than ever with our grant being declined.
