Volunteer Opportunities with Kelowna Nordic

S’Kool Guide Volunteer


What are you going to do?

Help introduce school groups and young skiers and snowshoers to the fun of part of winter! Assist with basic instruction, encourage participation, and help create a safe and welcoming experience on the trails.


Qualifications Needed

•  Friendly and enthusiastic attitude

•  Comfortable outdoors in winter conditions

•  Basic Nordic skiing/snowshoeing skills

•  Enjoy working with children and youth


Time Commitment

Flexible weekday daytime opportunities (3 hours max) throughout the ski season. Volunteer for a few sessions or regularly throughout the winter.



Nordic Host Volunteer



What are you going to do?

Be the welcoming face of the club! Greet visitors, answer questions, share trail information, and help create a positive experience for members and guests.


Qualifications Needed

•  Positive and welcoming attitude

•  Knowledge of the club and trails is an asset

•  Comfortable interacting with the public


Time Commitment

Flexible shifts, primarily weekends and busy club days during the ski season, usually 2 hours max. Combine this opportunity with your regular ski or snowshoe!



Special Events Volunteer


What are you going to do?


Help bring club events to life! Assist with planning, setup, and wrap-up during community events.


Qualifications Needed

•  Positive and welcoming attitude

•  Team player with a can-do attitude

•  Organized and dependable


Time Commitment

Occasional volunteer opportunities throughout the year, with most events taking place on weekends.




Trail Clearing Volunteer


What are you going to do?

Help maintain and improve the trails by clearing brush, trimming branches, and assisting with seasonal trail maintenance projects.


Qualifications Needed

•  Comfortable working outdoors

•  Ability to perform moderate physical activity

•  Experience with hand tools and power tools is an asset but not required


Time Commitment

Seasonal work parties in spring and fall. Most days will be a 4 hour time commitment.



Board Member



What are you going to do?

Help guide the future of the club! Participate in Board meetings, help make decisions, support club planning, and contribute to projects or committees that keep the club moving forward.


Qualifications Needed

•  Interest in supporting the club and its members

•  Comfortable working as part of a team

•  Good communication and decision-making skills

•  Previous board or committee experience is an asset but not required


Time Commitment

Board meetings and occasional committee or project work throughout the year. Expect approximately 2-4 hours per month, with some additional time during busy periods.

Grant Writer Volunteer


What are you going to do?

Help bring club projects and programs to life by identifying grant opportunities and preparing funding applications. Work with Board members and project leads to gather information, develop proposals, and track grant deadlines.


Qualifications Needed

•  Strong written communication skills

•  Organized and comfortable working with deadlines

•  Able to gather and summarize information clearly

•  Grant writing experience is an asset but not required


Time Commitment

Flexible and project-based throughout the year. Time commitment will vary depending on available grant opportunities and application deadlines.



Sponsorship Coordinator Volunteer


What are you going to do?

Help build connections between the club and our community! Identify potential sponsors, reach out to local businesses and organizations, coordinate sponsorship opportunities, and help maintain positive relationships with club supporters.


Qualifications Needed

•  Friendly and comfortable reaching out to businesses and community partners

•  Strong communication and organizational skills

•  Able to follow up and maintain relationships

•  Sales, marketing, fundraising, or sponsorship experience is an asset but not required


Time Commitment

Flexible throughout the year, with additional activity around events, fundraising initiatives, and sponsorship renewals. Approximately 2-4 hours per month on average.
