Future grooming
What we want!

I found out today that we cannot re-groom the tracks that were set last Saturday until we get fresh snow.  The currently groomed 12 kms are from the main cabin to meadow cabin, plus a short distance to log cabin.  This was groomed with a snowmobile towing a track setter.  We cannot use the big machines with a tiller as the snow is not deep enough.  Without a tiller the tracks freeze in place and cannot be redone until there is another snowfall.

Snow is forecast for Friday evening and Saturday.  If we have a good dump of snow, we likely can track set.  We might even get the big machines out if there is significant snowfall. For Saturday, with a decent snowfall, we plan to groom several more trails.  However, some trails are over bogs and still need to freeze.  Other trails are narrow and will need to accumulate even more snow before they can be groomed.

Received from Whitehorse Nordic. Dec 2024

I hope this email finds you well!  My name is Fran Nyman and I am part of the organizing committee for the Yukon Ski Marathon (March 8, 2025), a premier cross country ski event held annually in Whitehorse, Yukon.  As a fellow enthusiast for the sport, I wanted to connect with your nordic centre to explore ways we might share opportunities to grow the cross country skiing community.

This year, we are reimaging the Yukon Ski Marathon as part of the Pacific Northwest Loppet Series and we’re aiming to engage skiers and clubs across Alaska, Washington State, British Columbia and Alberta.  We would love to invite your club’s members to participate in the Yukon Ski Marathon.  And to share details about your club’s events with our network to encourage participation from Yukon skiers.

I am attaching a printable version of the Yukon Ski Marathon poster that you can print and display.  You can also follow us on social networks and share our publications on your own social networks to keep your skiers informed.

For those clubs in Canada - Whitehorse is also hosting the Canadian Masters Championships in February 2025 and I have attached the printable poster that can be displayed for skiers wanting to attend this week long event.

Thank you for sharing these posters!

Happy trails,

Fran
